CCD History
First established in the United States in 1902, the
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) began in Los Angeles in
1922 under the guidance of Bishop Cantwell. In 1973 the name was changed
to the Office of Religious Education.
St. Cyril's CCD Program
The parish program at St. Cyril of Jerusalem includes weekly Bible
Study Classes, Preparation for Baptism for children of school age,
Adult Confirmation Classes for baptized Catholics, age 21 and over,
who have received their First Holy Communion, Sacramental preparation
classes for First Penance (Confession) and First Eucharist (Holy Communion)
for students who do not attend Catholic schools. These classes are
for students in Grades 1 through 8. There is also ongoing instruction
for students to continue to enrich their Catholic Faith.
